1 . Yas Viceroy Hotel and Yas Island
The Yas Viceroy Hotel is most well-known because a Formula 1 track actually runs through the hotel. The track offers the chance to drive the course in a Chevrolet SS for a modest price. If you’re not up for driving, you can walk, job or bike it for free each Tuesday. Despite being renowned primarily for utilizing the latest in engineering and architecture to be based in both water and on land, the hotel also offers a long list of posh amenities. The Yas Viceroy is situated on Yas Island, an area famous for its adventure and adrenaline experiences. There are an assortment of things to do on Yas Island itself, ranging from the world’s largest waterpark, Waterworld, to Du Arena, which hosts concerts from the most famous bands and singers as well as other events.
2 . The Incerdible Ferrari World
Dedicated to Ferraris and the Italian car company that manufacturers the sports cars, Ferrari World is unique among theme parks. Each of the park’s two dozen rides was designed based on, and sits on its well-manicured 86,000 square kilometer campus. No matter if you are an adrenaline junkie or just someone who likes cars, you will find something for you in the park. Most notably, Ferrari World is home to the world’s fastest rollercoaster. The Formula Rossa coaster goes more than 240 kilometers per hour at its quickest.
3. The Desert
When it comes to holidays to Abu Dhabi, it pays to think about more than just what you will see while you are in the city. Venturing out into the desert for a safari, however, is an opportunity that shouldn’t be skipped. Look to in-town tour companies who let you contract SUVs and drivers for desert tours. Not only are they a great daytrip for almost any age group, but these tours are available year-around. These safaris aren’t simply a ride into the desert, either. They offer camel rides and stops at traditional Bedouin camps. You can also have a go at snowboarding on sand, known as sandboarding.
4 . Sheikh Zayed Mosque
The Sheikh Zayed Mosque is a popular destination for both Muslims and those of other faiths and backgrounds alike. As the United Arab Emirates largest mosque, this architectural marvel beyond 40,000 worshippers simultaneously. You will find more than 1,000 marble and gem columns , 80 domes and over 8,000 square meters of reflection pools. You’ll also see two “world’s largest” award winners in the mosque: a chandelier and a carpet. Walking tours are offered each afternoon.
5 . The Cultural District
Abu Dhabi has recently begun to develop a cultural district to add to its other attractions. This district, found on Saadiyat Island, is still under construction as of 2013. There’s already plenty to see, though. Bringing popular artwork to the region is the developer’s vision. The Saadiyat Island Story is a permanent exhibit that was designed to celebrate the developer’s vision. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Louvre Abu Dhabi will open in the district before 2015. They will showcase artwork that is borrowed from their namesakes as well as build their own collections. Don’t overlook a chance to see these museums in addition to the other cultural attractions in the area on your holiday to Abu Dhabi. It’s just a cab ride from the city center.
